How Much Money Do You Have Just Sitting On Your Hard Drive?

By Daniel Flower | September 3, 2008

If the truth be told I feel a little foolish. Why? Because I’ve just spent some money on a product and then realised afterwards that I already have it sitting on my computer…. Doh!

The purchase in question was some PLR material, and not only did I already have what I purchased but a lot more besides!

And then I did some more digging and found a few hundred more eBooks, articles, and audio courses that I had long since forgotten about.

Some of this I could profit from right now - and I’m putting some niche sites into action as we speak using the materials I found.

If you’ve been interested in internet marketing for any length of time then you’re probably in the same position. Go have a dig around at the files gathering digital dust on your hard drive and you’ll probably be surprised at what you find.

So if you’re struggling for ideas or knowledge, don’t get out your credit card just yet. Have a poke around on your computer and the thing you wanted might have been there all along!

    Hey Dan,
Good for you that you’re now using your PLR! Not good that you paid twice. Lol

Yesterday I was reading something I had purchased (not PLR), and realized I had read a small part of it before. It turns out someone took some PLR (that I also had sitting on my hard drive) and turned it into a fantastic ebook that they were charging $27 for. Wow. They took some lowly PLR, dusted it off, and turned it into a money-maker. Inspiring.

Right now I’m turning some PLR into a report to give away in exchange for opting in to my newest list.

What are you going to do with yours, Dan?

    Thanks,
    Peggy

Well done Daniel. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve done that. The worst is when you buy a $97 ebook and then realise that you already have it sitting on your harddrive. Now that’s embarassing ;)

I suppose we’re all becoming busy little bees and can’t find the time to go through and re-organise. i supoose if we did we’d save ourselves a ton of money?

I must admit, I struggle to re-write plr to produce ebooks and find them far easier for articles. I think people can tell if you’ve re-written a plr ebook if there’s no personalisation going on. Kind of sounds like its been written by a robot.

I know i’m gonna do a search on my harddrive from now on and save my two pennies ;)

    DesDrec.

    Hi Peggy

Thanks for posting. I agree that PLR is a wonderful thing, and I’m pretty excited by it at the moment. I am working on a number of different things with PLR - but mostly creating free viral reports to give away and get links back to my sites. It’s a wonderfully simple technique but I am very confident of getting some excellent results from it. I’ll keep you updated on it here on the blog and in my newsletter :- )

    Thanks again for posting.

    Dan

    Hi DesDrec

Glad you’re going to have a search - let me know if you find anything good : -)

I think the thing with PLR is that you have to go about it in the right way. I too have read stuff which sounds a bit robotic, but I try to add my own personality into it somewhere.

    Thanks for posting mate.

    Dan

    Hi DesDrec, :)

The easiest way to turn PLR articles into an ebook is to buy the articles in a bundle. That way the articles are all on the same topic, but different aspects of it. You can get article bundles with 10 articles and I think those can make great ebooks or ecourses. Each article can be a book chapter. Rewrite, adding your wonderful personality, ;) add graphics, get a book cover made, and turn it into a PDF.

Otherwise, rather than start with articles and turn them into an ebook, start with a PLR ebook and enhance it with personal examples, case studies, graphics, screen shots, testimonials, your own affiliate links, etc. Change the name, rewrite it into your own words and get a new cover.

It sounds like work, but not as much as starting from scratch!

Good luck with yours, Dan. I’m sure they’ll turn out well.
I do enjoy your posts and look forward to hearing how your projects turn out.
