Hi Dan,
I'm like Paula; I test my emails on 2 of my addresses first. Sometimes the formatting comes out screwy and I rework it until it looks right. I always test my links too as that's a pet peeve of mine.

Take care,
Peggy

Hey, what about this no-cost PDF compile which converts any text you want into links automatically?

http://www.freepdfconvert.com/

It's better than word, openoffice, and even pdf-edit 995 :)

Yes, I have to admit I'm paranoid about sending my mailings out unless I test them on two different email addies first. My AOL one is usually the best test - they're a nightmare at dictating to you what's spam and what isn't.

And I always wonder now, when marketers send a second email saying something like "apologies for the last email but I gave you the wrong link" etc. etc. as some have been known to use it as a marketing tactic to get a second bite of the promotion cherry!

Best wishes

Hi Mark

Cheers for posting mate. For some strange reason I thought you were a couple of years older than that! Seriously though, your blog posts are so insightful and helpful it gives that impression, which is great :)

Talking of metal cages - I know exactly where you're coming from. It's easy to worry about everything - thinking maybe what you're doing 'isn't good enough' or 'what if this or that goes wrong?' I think every IMer can relate to that but you have to try and work through it.

Thanks again for dropping by

Hi Dan, hows things happening with this report then? I do hope you got the problem solved, and as I remember you posting this problem on SSP, I do hope you have downloaded and installed OpenOffice 3.0 and spotted how much easier it is to create PDF's than in Microsoft Office.

Right, moving back to your post! Were have I had that kind of feeling before? (However it wasn't anything to do with inserting links for a PDF before you ask!) - Sorry Dan, I couldn't resist it! ;)

There's actually quite a number of little things that are holding me back, although I don't think you'll want to read them all here! Being serious though, it's stupid little this I 'worry' about, and shouldn't! But trying to break through this metal cage is a nightmare, have you tried it?

At least you weren't talking about me, when you mentioned 18 year olds! I've got a few months yet until I'm that age!

Speak soon!

Thanks

Hi Peggy

Thanks for posting. I should really start making 'to do' lists as I always get terribly side-tracked from what I'm doing.... Actually I think the first thing on my 'to do' list should be to make a to-do list :)

A glass of wine ALWAYS helps :D

Boy can I identify, Dan!

When I decide what to work on each day, I make a to-do list. Now when I do that, I assume certain tasks will take me a certain amount of time. I get so frustrated when one little thing I counted on being easy and quick, turns out to be a 3 hour ordeal (as the case with your PDF link). It ALWAYS happens.

That's when I reach for the chocolate and a glass of wine...

Just kidding (sort of). Even though I'll sweat and swear, there is a great sense of satisfaction in finally "beating" the problem. It also gives me a chance to grow closer to my IM friends when I frantically email or IM them to help me figure it out.

And you are so right that not everyone is at the same place. I tend to think people are where I am now or know more, and sometimes I take for granted where I was even a year ago.

Thanks for your insightful post, Dan.

Great post Dan. I think you've done some great work getting hold of one of the main players in the game. Interesting comment by Randy about safelists and how he made his first bucks.

You're right, the best way to learn is by studying the people that are already successful and making it work. Why make the same mistakes they did when you can pick their brains to find out what to do, when to do it, and the processes you need to put things in place.

As Randy points out, the best place to get some great advice are from places like the warriorforum. I must admit, I don't visit that site as often as I should but it gives you some real life examples of people just starting out (newbies), those that have launched a few products and half know what they're doing and the pros who seem to be on everyone's JV list and get the pick of the crop day in day out. Those are they guys we need to learn from.

Cheers Dan.

Hi DesDrec, :)

The easiest way to turn PLR articles into an ebook is to buy the articles in a bundle. That way the articles are all on the same topic, but different aspects of it. You can get article bundles with 10 articles and I think those can make great ebooks or ecourses. Each article can be a book chapter. Rewrite, adding your wonderful personality, ;) add graphics, get a book cover made, and turn it into a PDF.

Otherwise, rather than start with articles and turn them into an ebook, start with a PLR ebook and enhance it with personal examples, case studies, graphics, screen shots, testimonials, your own affiliate links, etc. Change the name, rewrite it into your own words and get a new cover.

It sounds like work, but not as much as starting from scratch!

Good luck with yours, Dan. I'm sure they'll turn out well.
I do enjoy your posts and look forward to hearing how your projects turn out.

Hi DesDrec

Glad you're going to have a search - let me know if you find anything good : -)

I think the thing with PLR is that you have to go about it in the right way. I too have read stuff which sounds a bit robotic, but I try to add my own personality into it somewhere.

Thanks for posting mate.
